Jen Ziemke, Ph.D., co-founder of the International Network of Crisis Mappers and assistant professor in the Political Science Department, is hosting “Introducing Crisis Mapping to the JCU Community” on Thursday, May 5, 2011.
Crisis mapping is live mapping focused on powering effective early warnings for rapid response to crises. A class on crisis mapping, Crisis Mapping, Politics, and New Media, is currently being taught at JCU and is one of the the world’s first-ever courses on the subject.
The event will begin at 4 p.m. in AD 258 with a brief lecture followed by a question and answer session. The event is open to anyone in the community.
