Faculty, staff, and administrators are invited to participate in a shared summer reading of Acts of Faith: The Story of an American Muslim, the Struggle for the Soul of a Generation, by Eboo Patel. In this memoir Patel, founder and executive director of the Interfaith Youth Core, recounts his coming-of-age experience of racism and exclusion and reflects on the events and forces that inspired his commitment to pluralism rather than fanaticism and violence.
Participants will receive a copy of the book, be on their own to read it over the summer, and will engage in a fall 2011 luncheon discussion (date TBA). If you are interested, please contact Jeanne Somers at email@example.com or by calling extension 3053.
This project is a collaboration of Grasselli Library, the Center for Service and Social Action, Campus Ministry, the Office of Orientation and Leadership, and the Department of Theology and Religious Studies. It is supported by funding from the Mandel Foundation.
