May 22, 2011 Commencement – moved to Wolstein Center

To allow everyone to plan, and to have a safe, comfortable experience, Commencement Ceremonies will be held at the Wolstein Center on the CSU campus at noon on Sunday, May 22, 2011.

Our goal is for graduation to be an enjoyable occasion for graduates and their families. Regrettably, we continue to have puddles of standing water on the Quad, and chairs easily sink into the turf. While the weather today and tomorrow is predicted to be better, showers are still in the forecast for Saturday night, and the chance of precipitation for Sunday remains at 40 to 50%; the threat of thunderstorms means that we would risk canceling graduation entirely if they should develop midday on Sunday.

Again, we all would prefer Commencement on campus in beautiful weather. Unfortunately, we have experienced one of the wettest springs on record, so to assure a ceremony that is comfortable and out of the rain for our graduates and guests, we have decided to move Commencement indoors. We will make every effort to assure that the event is a joyous celebration of our graduates and of the 125th Anniversary of John Carroll University.

All Reunion events and the Baccalaureate Mass will be held on campus as scheduled.
