The Fulbright U.S. Student grant competition is now open. A Fulbright grant covers an academic year of research or teaching English in most countries of the world.

An applicant much have a Bachelor’s degree by the summer of 2012. College seniors are especially encouraged to apply. Complete information can be found on the Fulbright Program’s website.

Each country program has somewhat different requirements. Most require some amount of foreign language study, an intellectual autobiography, and a plan for the year. Look over the country summaries and if you are interested and/or have questions contact Elizabeth Swenson, Ph.D., the JCU Fulbright Program advisor, at eswenson@jcu.edu.

The grants are competitive but one or two JCU seniors have won each year. The deadline for applying is September 15.
