Word Warriors: Banned Brilliance of African American Authors

The Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion invites you to join us in celebrating Banned Books Week! Banned Brilliance is a free, annual event that highlights the censorship of African American authors.

The event will take place Tuesday, September 27, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Karamu House, Inc., 2355 E. 89th Street, Cleveland, Ohio, 44106.

Activists and artists will read from selected banned books, while American Civil Liberties Union of Ohio board members and moderator Gary Williams will weave these passages togethers with commentary about Ohio’s juvenile justice system.

Word Warriors: Banned Brilliance of African American Authors is co-sponsored by Karamu House, Inc.

Please contact Salo at srodezno@jcu.edu if you are interested in attending the event. If there is enough student interest we will organize a carpool! Please let us know via email or call us at extension 4185. If you decide to drive on your own there is free parking available.

For more information on the actual event email contact@acluohio.org or call 216.472.2220.
