Rev. Francis Smith, S.J., formerly a member of the JCU English Department, will give a reading of his poetry on Thursday, September 29, at 4:30 p.m. in the Faculty Lounge. Rev. Smith is a well-published poet who has been writing poetry, teaching Shakespeare and Chaucer, and travelling the world for much of his 90 years.
He taught at John Carroll for many years and was in charge of bringing arts and entertainment to the school. Among the acts he booked were Louis Armstrong and Simon and Garfunkel. In addition to reading his poetry, Rev. Smith will speak about his time at JCU.
