The Ohio Fair Trade Expo, a statewide event to promote socially and environmentally responsible consumerism will be coming to JCU again this year, on Saturday, October 22, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Dolan Center.
The day includes two excellent keynote speakers – Pedro Ascencio, a member of the Las Colinas coffee cooperative in El Salvador and Rink Dickinson, co-founder of Equal Exchange Fair Trade. There are also more than 25 workshops led by fair trade experts and advocates including Jeff Goldman (Executive Director of the Fair Trade Resource Network) and members of the Coalition of Immokalee Farmworkers. Attendance for faculty and staff to the speakers and workshops is $12 and includes a free fair trade bag! You can register online.

If you have any Girl Scouts in your family or neighborhood – there is an educational program for Girl Scouts from 9 a.m. to noon on October 22 that includes the chance to earn a fair trade patch and fair trade bag. Learn more about the Girl Scout program.
You can also come to shop, enjoy family activities, and check out the Fair Trade Fashion Show for free anytime between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
