Two weeks ago, Allies successfully presented a signature event for the John Carroll University Community: Pride Week.
The event brought community members from across campus together through photographs, a nationally-recognized speaker, a powerful film about liberty and freedom, and a fantastic dance for equality. The event promoted diversity and helped provide an inclusive home for all participants attending. Events like these always involve a tremendous effort to plan and to execute from any one cultural student organization, its members and other volunteers from the campus community.
The wonderful event reflected JCU’s commitment to inclusiveness and came on the heels of National Coming Out Day, an international civic awareness day celebrating individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender.
Let’s hear it for Allies and the students who are honoring the commitment for inclusiveness by creating their own history here at JCU. Events like Pride Week sustain a strong and meaningful community, enriching the lives of all members of our community.
For those interested in joining Allies, feel free to stop by their Thursday night meetings in the CSDI Lounge (formerly the OMA Lounge) in the Student Center at 8 p.m..
