Underground Book Club opportunities

The Underground Book Club allows students to participate in book discussions about ethics, diversity, gender, and faith issues.

There are two opportunities to get involved this spring:

The first discussion of Acts of Faith, by Eboo Patel is on Tuesday, March 20, at 9 p.m. in the Underground.

The second discussion of The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, by Rebecca Skloot, will be off campus on Wednesday, March 28. Meet at the Rec Desk at 5:30 p.m. The group will travel on the JCU minibus to CCC Eastern Campus to hear David “Sonny” Lacks (son of Henrietta Lacks) speak at 6:30 p.m. Following the lecture there will be a book club discussion at a nearby coffee shop. Coffee is free. The bus will return to campus around 9 p.m.

Sign up for one or both book discussions. The first 10 participants to sign up will receive the book for free! Pick up books in the Office of Student Activities, Suite 201, Student Center (above the bookstore). A $5 refundable deposit is required for each book, and is refundable at the book club discussion.
