Today: Mark Nowak: Workers of the World: Globalization, Social Action and Committed Pedagogy

Mark Nowak, an award-winning poet, social critic, and labor activist, will speak on Thursday, April 12, at 7 p.m. in the Donahue Auditorium of the Dolan Science Center.

Nowak’s book Coal Mountain Elementary (2009) explores the human cost of coal mining in the U.S. and China. Nowak frequently speaks about global working class policies and issues, most recently on BBC Radio 3, Al Jazeera, and Pacifica Radio’s “Against the Grain.”

He will also lead a faculty roundtable on “Globalization and the Academy: Institutional, Disciplinary, and Pedagogical Challenges” on Friday, April 13, at noon, in the Faculty Lounge.
