To: John Carroll Faculty, Staff and Administrators
From: John T. Day, Provost and Academic Vice President
I am pleased to announce that Michelle Millet has accepted our offer to serve John Carroll University as the next Director of the Grasselli Library and Breen Learning Center.
As you may recall from meeting her during her recent campus visit, Michelle is currently Head of Reference Services at The University of Texas at San Antonio where she supervises ten professional librarians in a department responsible for collection development, information literacy programs, instruction, and outreach. Previous to her time at UTSA, Michelle was a tenured faculty librarian at Trinity University, also in San Antonio, a private, religiously affiliated institution and the number 1 ranked regional university in the West, according to U.S. News. Michelle received her education in Florida and holds a BA and an MA in History from Florida Atlantic University and an MA in Library and Information Science from the University of South Florida. She participates actively in her professional organizations, has published several articles, made frequent conference presentations, and headed up a very successful special project at Trinity in connection with that University’s re-accreditation with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
Michelle will join us in August. Please join me in welcoming her to John Carroll University.
I want to express my thanks and appreciation to the search committee, chaired by Matt Berg, which recommended Michelle from a strong national pool of candidates, including the three finalists who were interviewed on campus recently. Other members of the search committee included Michael Bestul, Mina Chercourt, Timothy Ficke ’15, Adam Green, Simran Kahai, Kathleen Kobyljanec, James Krukones, and Sheila McGinn.
