Today: Presentation on “Refugee Issues”

Samantha Cocco ’09, an employment training specialist and volunteer coordinator for the Cleveland Catholic Charities Office of Migration and Refugee Services, will speak about issues facing refugees tonight at 5 p.m. in the Dolan Auditorium.

Approximately 1.8 million refugees have resettled in the United States since 1980, when formal resettlement began. Topics to be discussed include what it means to be a refugee, how groups are selected for resettlement, and what domestic agencies do to help with resettlement.

Sponsored by the Center for Service and Social Action and the Peace, Justice, and Human Rights Program. Contact Peggy Finucane, Ph.D., at mfinucane@jcu.edu or Rich Clark, Ph.D., at rclark@jcu.edu for additional information.
