Today: “If lovin’ you is wrong, I don’t wanna be right.”

Isn’t philosophy just about sitting around and thinking? What can it really tell us about anything, much less love?

On the contrary, philosophy is defined in terms of love: philosophia, the love of wisdom. But what is this love we declare when we engage in philosophical questioning? Is this a love directed at ideas or can it be a love for the other person?

Come find out this Monday, Nov. 12, when Patrick Mooney, Ph.D., of the Philosophy Department introduces us to questions of philosophy, love, and music. Dr. Mooney will offer an informal presentation titled:

“If lovin’ you is wrong, I don’t wanna be right: The Impossibility of Luther Ingram’s Irrational Desire.”

Free pizza and soft drinks will be served. All students are invited to attend. Come listen to the R&B artist Luther Ingram’s music, enjoy some food and drink, and participate in some lively philosophical conversation.

When: Monday, Nov. 12, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Where: OC 103

Hope you can make it!

The event is sponsored by Phi Sigma Tau, the International Philosophy Honor Society and by the Shula Chair in Philosophy.
