Today: “Politics, Elections, and the Media: An Inside Look”

The Political Science Department’s Woelfl Seminar in Public Policy presents “Politics, Elections, and the Media: An Inside Look” with Sheldon R. Gawiser, Ph.D., director of elections for NBC News, on Thursday, March 14, at 5:30 p.m. in the Donahue Auditorium. Gawiser is the senior management executive in charge of all election-related information, including exit polling and analysis for NBC News, MSNBC, CNBC, Telemundo, and nbcnews.com.

He will discuss the current situation in national politics, how the media covers politics and elections, and how the networks project election results. Emphasis will be on the impact of the great divide between Red, Blue, and Purple states and districts.

Prior to joining NBC News full time, he was a member of the JCU faculty, serving as chair of the Department of Political Science. He is the author or co-author of six books, including “How Barak Obama Won,” (Vintage, 2009, with Chuck Todd).

This lecture is free and open to the public. For more information, visit the political science website or contact Terry Bradley at 216.397.4311.
