Beginning today, work will begin outside Murphy Hall on the north side of the building (area closest to Washington Avenue). We anticipate in the weeks leading up to finals that the limited amount of construction work will have only a minor impact on students and the broader campus community. The construction company will begin placing fencing around the perimeter of the building, creating a stone parking and staging area and begin moving equipment to the roof. In addition, work will begin on a temporary road leading to the north side of Murphy that will facilitate access to the building during the renovation. The University has worked with the contractors to reduce any construction noise beginning May 3, 2013, through the end of finals week.
Ensuring the safety of our community is our most important priority. All equipment and work will be completed in an area that will not be accessible to student residents or the campus at large.
We will share additional updates as they become available.
