Today: Students for Social Justice Meeting

Students for Social Justice is a student organization whose purpose is a commitment to two interrelated values of John Carroll’s mission: intellectual inquiry that demands critical thinking, and engaging in social justice and community service that leads to social action.

This network of people passionate about different issues of social justice is looking for students willing to help carry out events to help make the John Carroll community more aware of social justice issues and to foster action and advocacy.

Join SSJ for the first meeting of the Fall semester. It will be held on Tuesday, September 17, from 8-9 p.m. in the Jardine Room.

We will be explaining what it means to be a student for social justice and discussing the current committees within the organization:

  • Fair Trade: Fair Trade Fridays, Gifts that Give Twice, & Fair Trade Awareness Week
  • Oxfam Hunger Awareness: Fatima Family Center Food-Drive, Make a Difference Day, & the Oxfam Hunger Banquet
  • Health and Wellness: AIDS Awareness, Human Trafficking, & Cancer Awareness
  • Caring for Kids: Danie’s Day & Through the Eyes of a Child
  • Public Relations: 100 Blue Streaks Who Care
