Today: Annual Geller Lecture with Bryan Mauk ’08

The Department of Sociology and Criminology’s Annual Geller Lecture is Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m. in the LSC Conference Room.
Bryan Mauk ’08 will speak on “Social Entrepreneurship: Promoting Economic Growth and Fueling Social Change.”

Bryan earned his B.A. in sociology here and has worked for the last 10 years with the area homeless population. He is committed to helping the economically impoverished by building employment and personal relationships with those in need. In 2004 Bryan was a co-founder of the Labre Project at JCU. In 2008, he founded the Metanoia Project, a social enterprise that rehabbed abandoned and foreclosed homes to provide permanent housing to homeless individuals as well as job training opportunities. Bryan is now the director of social enterprise at Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry.
