Looking for an introduction to GIS? PO 203 will address the theory and practice of geographical information science through computer-based processing tools, specifically geographic information systems.
Students will study fundamentals of GIS components, spatial data models, integration of coordinate systems, digital data sources, spatial database functions, spatial analysis, thematic mapping, and data quality.
Applications include political analysis, land use planning, public health mapping, environmental management, and demographic mapping.
