This Week: Show Your Support For The Fight Against HIV/AIDS

Sunday, Dec. 1, was World AIDS Awareness Day! Throughout this week, show your support for the fight against HIV/AIDS in our local community and around the world.

Monday: Wristbands and Desserts
11 a.m.-2 p.m., LSC Atrium and CSSA Office
Pick up a red wristband to wear throughout the week. Bake sale will benefit students orphaned by AIDS in Kenya.

Monday: “Living with AIDS”
7 p.m. – LSC Conference Room
Bryan Jones will speak on living with AIDS and Amanda Dennison of the Free Medical Clinic will speak on reducing the spread of HIV/AIDS.

Wednesday: World AIDS Awareness Discussion
Noon – Jardine Room
Bring your lunch to an informational discussion with Lisa Fair, Free Clinic nurse, about HIV/AIDS awareness. Drinks and dessert provided!

Wednesday: Free HIV Testing
1-3 p.m. – Student Health Center
Take advantage of non-invasive HIV testing that will be offered to JCU students at no cost, thanks to nurses from the Free Clinic. No appointment necessary.

Thursday: Wristbands and Desserts
11 a.m.- 2 p.m., LSC Atrium and CSSA Office

Saturday: John Carroll’s Living Ribbon
2 p.m. – DeCarlo Varsity Gym
Cheer on the Blue Streaks and AIDS Awareness at the same time! View the Living Ribbon at half time during the men’s basketball game and enjoy another chance to buy delicious baked goods. Proceeds benefit students at St. Aloysius Gonzaga in Nairobi.

AIDS Awareness Week is sponsored by Students for Social Justice, the Center for Service and Social Action, the Student Health Center, the Program for Applied Ethics, and the Student Organization Budget Board.
