SUBJECT: Recipients of the 2014 Alumni Awards
On behalf of the John Carroll University Alumni Association and the Office of Alumni Relations, I am pleased to announce the recipients of the 2014 Alumni Medal, Silver Quill, Campion Shield, and Young Alumni Award.
The Alumni Medal is the highest honor awarded annually by the JCU Alumni Association. It recognizes an individual for accomplishments in his/her profession, exemplary family and personal life, contributions to their community, and dedication to John Carroll University.
The 2014 Alumni Medal recipients are:
The Campion Shield recognizes heroism and bravery among members of the John Carroll community and affirms the Jesuit ideal of being men and women for others. This year’s recipients are Charles J. Farrell, M.D. ’59 and his daughter Rev. Catherine M. Farrell Norris ’00.
The Silver Quill Award is presented annually to a class columnist for dedication to his/her classmates in writing a class column for the Alumni Journal section of John Carroll magazine. The recipient of the 2014 Silver Quill is Raymond R. Rhode ’55.
The Young Alumni Award recognizes the outstanding leadership and service of a John Carroll undergraduate alumnus/a who is 40 years old or younger. Standards of recognition include demonstrated leadership capability, commitment to the service of others, and substantial dedication to John Carroll University and its mission. The recipients are Bridget M. Fitzgerald ’10 and George A. Sample ’02, ’12G.
Award recipients will be honored at the Alumni Awards Dinner on Friday, May 16, 2014. Recipients of the Alumni Medal will also be recognized at Commencement on Sunday, May 18. For more information, please visit the 2014 Alumni Awards webpage.
