JCU ROTC Performs Well at Mountain Man Memorial March

Congratulations to the JCU Army ROTC Wolfpack Battalion team of 27 cadets and one faculty member who performed so well in the Mountain Man Memorial March on April 12 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee! The MMMM consists of events for both runners and marchers, military and civilian, teams and individuals. Both Heavy and Light categories have uniform and ruck sack weight requirements.

Ryan Bell (CWRU) earned 2nd place and Ivan Bolozdynya (CSU) 8th place in the Individual Military Heavy Full Marathon.

Phillip Scheanon (CWRU) earned 1st place and Rachel Botoulas (JCU) 4th place (and 1st female) in the Runner Full Marathon.

The JCU ROTC team — Alex Cherpak, Michael Martin, Sean Rabbitt, Gino Lamantia, and Matthew Kisthardt (all JCU) — placed 3rd overall in the Team Military Heavy Half Marathon. All team members must cross the finish line within 20 seconds of each other.

In the Individual Military Heavy Half Marathon, Damien Daugett (CSU) earned 2nd place, Mason Morrow (JCU) 5th, Sean Rabbitt (JCU) 7th, Louis Stergar (CSU) 9th, and Rebecca Jones (CWRU) 10th.

Military Science Assistant Professor Patrick Hicks placed 1st in the Runner Half Marathon and Summer Scanlon (JCU) was the winner of the Female 19 and under in the Runner Half Marathon.

The Mountain Man Memorial March honors the sacrifices of our American service members and their families, and one of the event’s goals is to provide scholarship grants to Gold Star Family members. This year the JCU battalion participated in honor of the memory of Private Dylan Ryan Paytas.
