The University has been notified that we must participate in an energy reduction audit on Tuesday, Aug. 26, between the hours of 2:30 and 4 p.m. The audit is required for us to demonstrate our “load shed” capabilities for participation in a Demand Response program to reduce electric load during periods when electric demand on the grid exceeds generation capacity.
Detailed information on the Campus Summer Energy Conservation Program may be found at http://sites.jcu.edu/
Emergency generators for academic buildings will be started at 8 a.m. to preclude any disruption to Orientation and Advising sessions.
All members of the campus community are asked to reduce their energy consumption wherever possible on Tuesday, Aug. 26, between the hours of 2:30 and 4 p.m. This should not interfere with individuals performing their essential work functions. Please turn off non-essential equipment in offices, classrooms, and laboratories, such as lights, printers, copiers, or other electronic devices.
Thank you for your cooperation and assistance with this request as we actively manage our campus energy usage and participate in a program which helps protect Northeast Ohio from power blackouts and brown outs.
