Final Request for International Student Host Families

Our new international students are eagerly preparing for their arrivals to JCU this August. Eight members of the faculty and staff have offered to host students, but we still need a few more families.

As a host family for our international students, the required time commitment is very little. Our students will be arriving on August 18-19 and must move into the dorms by the start of orientation on the morning of August 21. Traditionally, we have asked that host families provide accommodations for their students for one or two nights. However, to offer greater flexibility, we are also seeking host families who can assist the students who choose to stay in the dorms before orientation.

During the time before orientation, students will likely need to go shopping for items they did not bring with them and to set up their dorm rooms. We ask that host families assist students with these tasks. After that, your level of commitment and engagement with your international student is whatever you and they are interested in.

Our international students often say how much their host families have helped in their transition to the JCU community. Don’t miss your chance to welcome a new student to John Carroll.
