Update: Intergroup Dialogue

PLEASE NOTE UPDATED DATES
Intergroup dialogues are face-to-face meetings between members of at least two different social identity groups and should provide an opportunity for open and honest conversation about race.

The Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion, the Dean of Students office, along with the Office of Mission and Identity are organizing this dialogue with the expectation that these conversations will strengthen our commitment to fostering an inclusive and welcoming campus climate at JCU. To this end, participants may use mission leave to participate in this project.

Facilitated by Danielle Carter (director of the center for student diversity and inclusion) Donna Byrnes (associate dean of students), Eddie Carreon (associate director of residence life), this dialogue series will be from 12-1:30 p.m. on the following eight Wednesdays: February 17, February 24, March 9, March 16, March 23, March 30, April 6 and April 13.

We are looking for 10-16 faculty and staff willing to explore the issue of race, as it relates to one’s understanding of self, areas of difference with others, connections to others, and how to build alliances as well as engage in social action.

Please contact Danielle Carter (dcarter@jcu.edu) if you would like to participate in the dialogue by Monday, February 15.
