Safe Zone’s program goals are: (1) to provide a supportive environment for LGBTQ+ students and allies on campus and (2) to increase the visible presence of LGBTQ+ allies and places that are safe for LGBTQ+ students across campus.

Safe Zone’s learning goals aim to help participants: (1) identify resources available to support LGBTQ+ students and peers, (2) increase knowledge of LGBTQ+ terminology, (3) assess their own attitudes and beliefs related to LGBTQ+ bias, (4) reflect on the importance of peer allyship to LGBTQ+ peers, (5) learn the impact of anti-LGBTQ+ bias on peer’s academic, social, emotional, and spiritual success, and (5) explore strategies and develop beginning skills to respond to anti-LGBTQ+ bias and harassment in and outside the campus.
