Today: Celebrate JCU’s Founders’ Day

April 19 is a very important day in the history of John Carroll University. On that day in 1886, Rev. Richard Gilmour, bishop of the Cleveland diocese, and Rev. Henry Behrens, S.J., superior of the Buffalo Jesuit Mission, signed the formal agreement to establish a Jesuit college in Cleveland. Merely 5 months later, St. Ignatius College opened its doors and accepted students to its first classes.

The University will be hosting a Founders’ Day Celebration on April 19 at Crop Bistro & Bar from 6-8 p.m. Join with alumni and friends as we toast to 130 years of Jesuit education in Cleveland.

The event is $10 per person and registration is required. Visit sites.jcu.edu/foundersday to register for this event and learn more about JCU’s history and tradition.
