Wednesday, October 26, 2016
6:30 p.m. Lecture and 7:45 p.m. Reception
Donahue Auditorium, Dolan Center for Science and Technology
Witness the story of the American film maker and activist who set the world on fire when she scaled the 30 foot South Carolina Statehouse flagpole to remove the Confederate Flag after the 2015 shooting deaths of nine African Americans at Mother Emmanuel Church in Charleston, South Carolina. The iconic picture of her on the pole, flag in hand, has become a touchstone of empowerment for disenfranchised people around the world.
