CDM Brown Bag Workshop: The New Turnitin LTI Plagiarism Detection Tool for Canvas

Many instructors rely on Turnitin for plagiarism education, prevention, and detection. Turnitin currently integrates with Canvas in two different ways, an older API-based legacy system, and a newer LTI-based “external tool” system. Turnitin is phasing out the older API-based legacy method and is asking users to adopt the new Turnitin Canvas LTI by the end of the year. To help ease the transition, ITS will continue to support both systems side-by-side through the end of the semester. Beginning in 2017, the LTI-based system will be the only version available to users.

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Create a Turnitin LTI Assignment in Canvas
  • Change Turnitin settings for an assignment
  • Grade Turnitin assignments in SpeedGrader
  • Interpret a Turnitin originality report

This workshop will take place on Tuesday, November 22, from noon-12:50 p.m. Please visit the CDM website to learn more/register: http://sites.jcu.edu/cdm
