Today: SPJ Workshop – If You Could Save a Life Would You?

The John Carroll chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists presents a workshop for journalists on social media guidelines for reporting suicide. It will take place on Thursday, March 16, at 7 p.m. in the Mackin Room of the Grasselli Library.

The workshop will focus on teaching journalists and mental health professionals the strategies and language to share informative and accurate stories when dealing with this sensitive topic. Lecturers include John Ackerman, clinical psychologist and suicide prevention coordinator at Nationwide Children’s Hospital; and Nerissa Young, lecturer in the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University.
