In honor of the 131st anniversary of JCU’s founding, the University will host various programs throughout campus and the nation. Here’s a snapshot of the celebrations planned in Cleveland on April 19:
• 8:30-9 a.m. – Staff Council will host a special morning social in the Alumni Lounge. It is a special Blue & Gold Day, so be sure to wear your JCU spirit wear that day.
• Noon – Rev. Martin Connell S.J., will celebrate Mass at Saint Francis Chapel with the homily focusing on reflection, a key tenet of Jesuit spirituality.
• 1-2:30 p.m. – Members of the Office of Alumni Relations and Student Alumni Association will be handing out cupcakes in St. Ignatius Plaza (Student Atrium if the weather does not cooperate). WJCU will also be playing music for everyone to enjoy.
• 6-8:30 p.m. – The Cleveland Alumni Chapter will host its Founders’ Day Celebration at Great Lakes Brewing Company with featured speaker, Ed Peck, Ph.D.,All are welcome to attend. RSVP required: https://jcufounders2017.eventbrite.com.
Two Cleveland landmarks will be in the spirit as well for Founders’ Day–Grasselli Tower and the Terminal Tower downtown will be illuminated in school colors. For those on social media, be sure to Tweet @jcualumni using #jcufoundersday. There will also be a special Founders’ Day Snapchat filter from noon-9 pm. for campus.
