Today: Ürümqi Unraveled: ‘Desettlement’ Development, Islamophobia, 3/15

The Uyghur (Turkic Muslim ethno-national group) in Xinjiang in northwester China face persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

This talk will demonstrate that these heavy-handed crackdowns on Islamic practice (e.g., restrictions on mosque attendance, prohibitions on religious dress, and bans on “overtly” Islamic names) undermine the CCP’s efforts to promote genuine ethnic unity.
