Mental Health First Aid Training, 8/8 and 8/10; Lunch and Certificate of Completion provided

Have you ever encountered a student who seemed to be struggling with a mental health concern, wanted to help, but weren’t sure how?

Recovery Resources is coming to our campus to offer Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) to Faculty and Staff. This is an eight-hour course that teaches you how to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. The training helps you identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. A three-year certification in MHFA is available upon completion of the 2-day course. You must attend both days to obtain the MHFA certification. The nationally certified trainers teach a five-step action plan that will help you assess a situation, implement appropriate interventions, and help the person connect with professional care.
The eight-hour course will be offered over two days, Wednesday, 8/8/18 and Friday, 8/10/18 from 9:00 a.m. – 1:15 p.m. in BR 19 classroom. You must attend both sessions in order to receive a certificate of completion. Coffee and lunch will be provided.
If you have any questions, please call the University Counseling Center at x4283.
