October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month – Week 2
Perhaps more than ever before, the issue of cybersecurity is at the top of everyone’s mind at JCU. It’s critical that everyone at JCU understand how to keep JCU and personal data secure. There are things you can do right now to protect fellow faculty, staff, students, colleagues, and family members from online risks by becoming a cybersecurity advocate in your office and home. Laws, policies, and best practices documents can only do so much against malware and hacks. We need you to help us with our prevention efforts.
Follow these six simple steps to gain peace of mind and more control over your online security.
1. Protect accounts with strong authentication
2. Keep software updated
3. Avoid phishing attempts
4. Use unique passwords
5. Protect mobile devices
6. Use trusted security tools
