On Tuesday, October 16, at 8 p.m. in Rodman A, Palestinian-American poet Deema Shehabi will share her life and poetry. She will attempt to answer the question: What does it mean to be a Palestinian and a poet in a time where Palestinians are being erased? Shehabi is the author of “Thirteen Departures from the Moon” and co-editor of “Al-Mutanabbi Street Starts Here” for which she won NCBR’s Book Recognition Award. She’s also co-author with Marilyn Hacker of “Diaspo/Renga” and winner of the 2018 Nazim Hikmet Poetry competition.
