Today: Books and the Lib

We miss you, students! A few of you have asked and we have some answers:

I’m moving out from the Res Hall finally, what do I do with those OhioLINK and Grasselli library books I need to return?
When you’re moving out of the Res Halls and need to return your key, there will be 2 bins located near the ramp by the St. Francis Chapel. Team Grasselli will be emptying those bins regularly to make sure they’re off of your account. However, due to Covid-19, we are practicing safe handling techniques and will need to quarantine the books before checking them in.

I have books checked out, but I live off campus and commute to JCU, how should I return my books?
You are also welcome to return your books in the bins mentioned above in the Student Center. However, if you aren’t close to that side of campus, but you’re coming past Grasselli, there’s always a book return slot located on the front of the building to the left of the front doors. This book return slot (it kind of looks like a mailbox) is always open and available for returns 24/7. Any books returned will be following the same safe handling procedures and will be quarantined before getting checked in.

What about my fines?
If you’ve returned all of your books and they’re in good condition, you shouldn’t have any fines from the pandemic-impacted portion of the semester. We appreciate you all being good stewards to our books and we will be waiving fines accumulated during these special circumstances. I live farther away and I wasn’t planning to come back to campus, what should I do about returning my books?
We’re handling these situations on a case-by-case basis so please reach out to us, we’re glad to work with you on figuring this one out! The easiest way to contact someone with your questions about fines is to email the Library Help Desk at circulation@jcu.edu
