The University will participate in a required Demand Response Energy Audit on Wednesday, August 12.
Beginning at 2:00 pm, we will reduce our electricity load to a minimum to demonstrate our ability to shed load during emergency conditions on the PJM grid. The University’s participation in this program helps prevent rolling brownouts or blackouts in the region. Actions to reduce our electricity demand include turning off air conditioning, raising the temperature settings on thermostats, shutting off pumps and motors, and slowing down fan speeds in the buildings.
You can help by turning off unnecessary lighting in your office and adjacent areas and by turning off or unplugging personal appliances during this event.
The Facilities department will coordinate with various departments to limit the impact in buildings where classes and special events are scheduled. All building systems will be returned to normal operation after the audit. If you notice issues the following day, please submit a work order through SchoolDude here:
