You are invited to join John Carroll University’s Nonprofit Administration program for a free virtual discussion of nonprofit social enterprise.
Social enterprise – loosely defined as the use of market-based approaches to solving social issues – is a hot topic and its relevance is only growing, particularly in the nonprofit sector, with many organizations already engaging in social enterprise activity or considering doing so in the near term.
Nonprofit and social enterprise attorney Alex Campbell of Schneider Smeltz Spieth Bell LLP will give a brief overview of legal issues for nonprofits engaged in social enterprise, including tax issues and corporate structuring and risk management opportunities. Then, we will host a panel of nonprofit leaders who will speak to their experiences – good and bad – with nonprofit social enterprise. Our panelists include: Eric Amanfoh, JumpStart Inc., David Sylvan, University Hospitals, and Bethia Burke, Fund for Our Economic Future.
