Join the conversation about ending the death penalty in Ohio. Here are two upcoming talks on campus to check out:
Wednesday, Oct. 5th, 2022 6 – 8pm in the Donahue Auditorium, Dolan Science Center, join us for “Death Row Exonerees Speak on The Death Penalty. Featuring: Witness to Innocence & Ohioans to Stop Executions (OTSE)”. Ohio has the 6th largest death row in America. On October 5th a panel of exonerees will discuss their convictions, their
experience on death row, and the impact this has had on their lives. Representatives
from OTSE will also be on hand to discuss the status of the death penalty in Ohio. OTSE is a coalition of individuals and organizations working to end capital punishment in Ohio.
Thursday, Oct. 6th, 2022 9:30 – 10:30am in Room AD 258, St. Ignatius Hall (formerly the Administration Building), join us for “Abolishing the Death Penalty in Ohio. Featuring: Krisanne Valliancourt Murphy, Executive Director of Catholic Mobilizing Network”. The Catholic Mobilizing Network is a national organization that mobilizes Catholics and all people of goodwill to value life over death, to end the use of the death penalty, to transform the U.S. criminal justice system from punitive to restorative, and to build capacity in U.S. society to engage in restorative practices. Through education, advocacy, and prayer, and based on the Gospel value that every human is created in the image and likeness of God, CMN expresses the fundamental belief that all those who have caused or been impacted by crime should be treated with dignity.
These events are free and open to the public.
