Wednesday, October 5, 2022 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, JCU Donahue Auditorium, Dolan Science Center. Featuring Witness to Innocence & Ohioans to Stop Executions (OTSE)
Ohio has the 6th largest death row in America. Since 1973, 190 individuals have had their death sentence overturned due to findings of innocence. Ohio, with eleven exonerations, is tied for sixth in the nation in the number of wrongful death penalty convictions. On October 5, a panel of exonerees will discuss their convictions, their experience on death row, and the impact this has had on their lives. Representatives from OTSE will also be on hand to discuss the status of the death penalty in Ohio. While Governor DeWine has issued a temporary reprieve on executions, this could change. With bills pending in the Ohio legislature that would abolish the death penalty in Ohio, now is the time for concerned individuals to engage and understand what’s going on with Ohio’s death penalty system.
