Dear John Carroll Community,
We are thrilled to announce the newest addition to our esteemed team here in Campus Ministry. Please join us in welcoming Shelby Smyth as our new Assistant Director of Campus Ministry, who will be overseeing our Immersion program.
Many of you may already be familiar with Shelby, as she has been an integral part of our community for the past two years, serving as a Resident Minister. Shelby’s journey began at Spring Hill College, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology in May 2019. During her time there, she actively engaged in Campus Ministry through the retreat program and the immersion program.
After completing her undergraduate degree, Shelby joined the Jesuit Volunteer Corps, where she worked at an after-school program for refugee youth in Syracuse, NY. This transformative experience inspired her to pursue a Master’s in School Counseling at John Carroll University and joined us as a Resident Minister and Graduate Assistant. She graduated in May with her Master’s and is a licensed School Counselor.
Drawing upon her passion for social justice, service and community, Shelby is excited to embark on this new role within the JCU and Campus Ministry community. Her commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of students aligns perfectly with our university’s values, and we are confident that she will excel in her position.
Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Shelby Smyth. We encourage you to reach out to her at ssmyth@jcu.edu.
