Join with fellow students to learn skills for understanding and managing emotions, enhancing cognitive flexibility and reducing symptoms related to anxiety and depression. Counseling Center staff will guide the group through a day of learning and application of skills (not therapy but a day to learn from the experts).
Lunch will be provided. Those completing the full workshop will receive a Certificate of Completion.

What will I learn?
Students will be able to…
Understand the functional nature of primary emotions (fear, anxiety, sadness, anger, guilt, and shame)
Identify and label emotions they are experiencing.
Break down emotional experiences into three parts (thoughts, feelings, behaviors/ behavioral urges)
Identify automatic negative thoughts and highlight the interacting relationship with emotions and behaviors.
Generate more flexible interpretations for automatic negative thoughts, judgements, and interpretations.
Practice present moment awareness and acceptance of emotional experiences.
Generate a plan for future practice of skills learned.
Identify emotion-driven behaviors and generate adaptive alternative actions
