Join us as Dr. Okaka Dokotum, a Fulbright Visiting Scholar, presents the first lecture in the Women’s and Gender Studies spring series, “Women’s Lives Yesterday and Today V.” Dr. Dokotum will discuss a film depiction of Sara Baartman, a South African woman inhumanely treated in 19th century England and France. “Image Construction, Social Dis-location and Dehumanization in Zola Maseko’s The Life and Times of Sara Baartman: ‘The Hottentot Venus,’” will be presented on Tuesday, January 27, at 11:00 a.m. in the LSC Conference Room of the Lombardo Student Center.
