The Center for Service and Social Action is in need of volunteers to sew fleece “pillow sleeves” in support of a Summer Orientation Service Project for incoming JCU freshmen and their families.
Construction is very simple: cut the fleece to size and sew a single seam. Fleece fabric is provided! The pillows are completed by incoming students and their families during Summer Orientations (they stuff the pillows with batting and cut and tie the ends) and then donated to Malachi House, a local hospice facility, where they are used to relieve painful pressure points for bed-ridden patients with terminal illnesses.
The pillow sleeves are needed by Monday, June 5. We need about 100 sleeves, so this amount will be divided evenly among volunteers.
If you are interested in assisting with this project, please email service@jcu.edu. Thank you!
