With recent staff departures and several impending retirements on the horizon, the University’s Grounds crew will soon be losing 80% of its total staffing, and more than 62 years of collective campus experience. We are all very grateful for the Grounds staff’s dedicated and caring service and we will greatly miss their commitment, experience, and friendship. Given the sudden and significant level of loss in one department, the University recently formed a committee to study and evaluate potential replacement options. As a result of that work, Turfscape Inc. has been engaged to provide the University’s landscaping and non-parking snow management needs effective August 1. Grounds maintenance related to the University’s athletics fields will continue to be performed and managed in-house.
Turfscape was formed in 1988 and has grown to become Northeast Ohio’s leading provider of lawn maintenance and snow removal services. In your strolls through campus, please offer a word of thanks to those who have taken such good care of our grounds over the years and a warm welcome to John Carroll’s newest partner. Work order requests relating to grounds issues should continue to be processed through the Facilities Office or submitted to the SchoolDude work order system.
