Take a lively journey with Roots of American Music through the history of the blues, a music created out of the Southern African-American experience and one of the roots of Rock and Roll, on Thursday, March 1, at 7 p.m. in the Donahue Auditorium.
Stories of social and cultural conditions are woven into the history of the music, including the experiences of slaves, the “Great Migrations” of African-Americans, and the technological advances that affected music and everyday life.
Join us for refreshments after the presentation. Meet the Rev. Dr. Valentino Lassiter and the musicians of Roots of American Music and discover how their work impacts the Greater Cleveland community.
This event is being presented by the Pastor-in-Residence Program and is free and open to the public.
