The Bediuzzaman Said Nursi Chair in Islamic Studies proudly presents the 11th Annual Week of Islamic Art and Culture at John Carroll University featuring Fr, Thomas Michel, SJ, April 16-19. This year’s events are:
Monday April 16: Fr. Thomas Michel, SJ will give a talk titled “Nursi’s Appreciation of God’s Creative Artistry.”
Tuesday April 17: Dr. Eve McPherson of Kent State University will give a presentation titled “The Beautiful Voice: Style, History, and Affect in Turkish Call-to-Prayer Recitation.”
Wednesday April 18: A showing of the film Bab’Aziz: The Prince That Contemplated His Soul (2015) a Sufi inspired feature film by the Tunisian director Nacer Khemir.
Thursday April 19: Sonya Rhie Mace curator for Indian and Southeast Asian Art at the Cleveland Museum of Art will give a talk titled: “Art and Stories of Mughal Women.”
All events will begin at 7pm in the Donahue Auditorium of the Dolan Science Center.
