Journey with Rev. Dr. Valentino Lassiter and other Cleveland area musicians in a celebrative presentation that uplifts the powerful heritage of music and the spoken word in African American religious history on Tuesday, April 3, at 7 p.m. in Dolan A202 and A203.
From the yearnings for freedom and personhood by slaves, to the prophetic homiletical musings for Civil Rights, the program will highlight the essence of sacred vocal heritage. In recognition of the 44th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s landmark “Promised Land” speech, Lassiter and others will celebrate the distinct nature of musicality in both the prophetic and worship tradition of the African American Church.
Join us for refreshments following the presentations. Meet Lassiter and the musicians of Roots of American Music and discover how their work impacts the Greater Cleveland Community.
This event is sponsored by the Pastor-in-Residence Program and is free and open to the public.
