Obianuju Ekeocha “Uju” will give a seminar on Tuesday, January 15, at 7 p.m. in the O’Connell Reading Room, Dolan Science Center. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about the intersection of cultures, traditions, and healthcare. Uju is an amazing young Catholic scientist/researcher from the UK. She has addressed UN Committees/UK and Canadian Parliaments, is the President of Culture of Life Africa, and been a prolific media commentator. She highlights the problems of women’s health and healthcare accessibility in developing countries, where a clash often occurs between local cultural practices and western concepts of ‘reproductive rights’, with a focus on international aid provisions to support women’s health initiatives.
