The Death Penalty in Ohio Featuring Journey Of Hope…From Violence to Healing

Tuesday, October 15, 2019 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM in the Dolan Science Center, Rooms A202-203.

The Journey of Hope…From Violence to Healing is led by Murder Victim’s family members who share their experiences to convey that the death penalty has nothing to do with the healing that families need and deserve. The Ohio Journey is taking place at the same time that policy makers are having serious discussions about this difficult issue on Ohio.

Journey speakers come from all walks of life and represent the full spectrum and diversity of faith, color, and economic situations. They recount their tragedies and struggles to heal as a way of opening dialogue on the death penalty to help change hearts and minds. https://www.journeyofhope.org/

Tonight’s speakers are Shujaa Graham, an exoneree who spent five years in prison for a homicide he did not commit; and LaShawn Ajamu, whose 20 year old brother was murdered as a result of a traffic dispute. Ms. Ajamu is also married to Kwame Ajamu, a Cleveland resident and one of Ohio’s nine exonerated death row survivors. Mr. Ajamu spent 27 years in prison before being exonerated.
