The deadline to complete Part 1 of the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion on-line course is extended! The new deadline is Friday, April 24, 2020. Use the following URL in your preferred web browser to continue and complete the course: https://appserv.jcu.edu/everfi/index.py/diversity
Part 2 is optional for students who are graduating this spring/summer 2020. We are pleased to report that 1,179 undergraduate and graduate students are in the process of completing or done with the requirement. Help us get to the participation level of 1,664 students today by completing Part 1! This number helps us arrive at 50% of the undergraduate and graduate student body on campus.
In the online course, students have:
– Learned about key concepts related to identity, bias, power, privilege, and oppression.
– Understood the benefits of being part of a diverse community.
– Developed classroom and workplace skills related to ally behavior, self-care, and creating inclusive spaces.
Becoming more aware of issues of bias, prejudice, and inclusion is more vital now than ever. In addition, diversity, equity, and inclusion are fundamental elements of JCU’s mission and values, and central to a strong Jesuit education. We hope you understand that although the timing might feel strained, the intent and purpose is still necessary, and every participant is the better for it, not just here at JCU, but as you go on to make an impact in the world.
Please note:
-Students who completed the course last Fall 2019 or this Spring 2020 have met the requirement.
-Students who are also JCU staff/faculty are exempt from the requirement since they already completed the online training for staff/faculty earlier this year.
Thank you so much for your time and energy. Continue to look out for yourself and others during this quickly changing and tumultuous time. Contact diversity@jcu.edu or csdi@jcu.edu if you have any questions. Take care!
Sincerely,
Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion Staff
